SingWay Policies for individuals under 16 years old
SingWay encourages parents and guardians to spend time on-line with their children and to browse the different sections on the sites. If you are a user of our site and under 16 years old we need you to please check that your parent(s) or guardian(s) are happy for you to do so.
How we track your use of our site(s)
In order to continually improve our website it is useful to know which are the popular areas on our sites and how long our guests spend on them. We do this in a number of ways. These are explained below.
Use of IP Addresses
An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you’re surfing the web. Web servers automatically identify your computer by it’s IP address. SingWay collects IP addresses for the purpose of system administration, and to create reports and to audit the use of our site. When you request pages from SingWay sites, our servers or computers log the guests IP addresses. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that a member remains anonymous to us.
It is important to note the following things:
Links to other sites
You should be aware that when you are on our sites you could be directed to other sites. For example, if you click on a banner advertisement or a link in the Links section you may be taken off the SingWay site. Although we are careful about which sites we link to, SingWay cannot accept any responsibility for the content of these sites. Please keep in mind that whenever you give out personal information online – for example, via bulletin boards or chat-rooms that information can be collected and used by people you don’t know. Remember, never give out personal information on a chat or bulletin board. We strive to protect your identity and privacy, but we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you disclose online, and you do so at your own risk. If you are young or inexperienced on the Internet, then ask your parents or someone else you can trust, who has some experience, about which personal information is safe to send or give on the internet.
The importance of secure storage of your personally identifiable information is of utmost concern to us. We exercise great care in transmitting your information from your computer to our servers. Only those employees who need access to your information in order to do their jobs are allowed access. Any employee who violates our privacy and/or security policies is subject to disciplinary action, including possible termination and civil and/or criminal prosecution.
We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or email. Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and any account information. Remember to sign out of your SingWay site and close your browser window when you have finished what you’ve been doing; this is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if your computer is accessible to others or if you share with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or an internet café.
